Стипендии Александровского института для приглашенных исследоват
Александровский институт объявляет прием заявок стипендии приглашенного исследователя на 2012-2013 учебный год. Заявители должны обладать степенью доктора философии (PhD) и проводить исследования, связанные с научной программой института.
Стипендию составляют ежемесячные выплаты в 2500 евро для покрытия всех расходов, связанных с пребыванием исследователя. Срок пребывания может варьироваться от двух до трех месяцев. Стипендия предназначена для ученых, которые проживают за пределами Финляндии. Крайний срок подачи заявок 24 февраля 2012 года.

The History Department at CEU offers competitive fellowships for MA and PhD programs.
Central European University in Budapest, Hungary is the only international English-language graduate school in Europe that is accredited both on our continent (in Hungary)and in the United States. The History Department focuses on early modern and modern history, with a number of regional concentrations, including Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the former territories of the Ottoman and Russian Empires. Comparative perspectives on Western Europe and the Middle East are encouraged in both teaching and research. Furthermore, it is possible to concentrate on a number of special subjects such as Eastern Mediterranean Studies, Jewish Studies, Ottoman Studies, History of Science, or Religious Studies. The affiliated Source Language Teaching unit offers courses in Arabic, Hebrew, Ancient Greek, Latin, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Hungarian, Russian, Syriac, and Turkish.
The curriculum is comparative, interdisciplinary, and relates to current theoretical discussions in the field and beyond.

Students may earn certificates in Jewish Studies and Religious Studies. In addition to coursework, conferences, workshops, and guest lectures are held throughout the year to enrich the curriculum and the academic life in the department.
The History Department is a cosmopolitan place of learning, a site of transnational academic socialization where sophisticated scholarship is combined with a relaxed, collegial atmosphere. Faculty come from a variety of countries, including Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United States. The department invites applications for the 1) one-year MA program, designed for students who have completed at least a four-year Bachelor's degree; 2) two-year MA program, designed for those who have completed a three-year Bachelor's degree; and 3) PhD program. The Berlin Graduate School "Muslim Cultures and Societies"
The Berlin Graduate School "Muslim Cultures and Societies" funded by the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments will admit fifteen PhD students to its doctoral programme to begin October 1, 2012. Up to ten of these candidates will receive a Graduate School grant; the other candidates will be supported in their quest for funding.
The Graduate School investigates the plurality, changeability, and global connectedness of Muslim cultures and societies. It invites applications from candidates whose dissertation project fits one of the Graduate School’s Research Areas.
Successful applicants should have a master’s degree in one of the disciplines represented at the Graduate School, with a ranking, where applicable, of above average.
The language of communication is English. Admission is for one year, and, contingent upon a positive evaluation after the first year of study, will be extended for another twelve months. Admission and grant can be extended for a total of three years. Scholarships are approximately EU1400 per month.

CEU: Full PhD Fellowships in Political Science
Central European Univeristy, Budapest, invites applications for the Public Policy specialization (’track’) of the Doctoral Program in Political Science
Its Ph.D Program in Political Science is accredited in the U.S. and offers five specializations: Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Economy, Political Theory, and Public Policy. It is one of the largest, most international and most competitive programs in Europe. Students, from over 30 countries, are supported by more than 35 faculty members.
The Public Policy track prepares graduate students for careers in research or higher education institutions It is highly competitive and welcomes applications from graduates of Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Law, and related disciplines.
The curriculum of the Public Policy track proposes a solid, comprehensive, and methodologically rigorous grounding in political science, whilst developing research skills, analytical abilities and substantive knowledge related to public policy, public administration and governance. It offers a strong comparative dimension and addresses the challenges posed by decentralization, globalization and privatization of governance structures and processes, to the design, delivery and assessment of public policies.
The doctoral candidates are actively introduced to research networks in their field through participation in graduate conferences and major research projects. The Doctoral School collaborates with a number of research centers including the Center for Ethics and Law in Biomedicine, the Center for Media and Communication Studies, the Center for the Study of Imperfections in Democracies, the Center for Environment and Security, the Center for European Union Research and the Asia Research Initiative.
Funding:
Students admitted into CEU doctoral degree programs are eligible to the Full CEU Doctoral Fellowship for three years. It includes tuition, medical insurance, and a monthly stipend (around 750 €) to cover educational and accommodation costs. Doctoral students must complete their PhD degree within six years.

SSRC Eurasia Program Fellowships and Post-Docs
Dissertation Development Awards (DDAs) are intended to provide one year of support to enable the prompt completion of a PhD dissertation. The program anticipates awarding approximately 10 DDAs (with stipends of up to $18,000 and $4,000 of possible supplemental funding) to advanced graduate students who have completed their fieldwork. Fellows will participate in professionalization activities and a spring conference and contribute to the Eurasia Program's new working paper and policy brief series. Applicants should pay serious attention to the policy-relevant aspects of their research.
Post-Doctoral Research Awards (PDRAs)
Post-Doctoral Research Awards (PDRAs) provide research funds to early-career scholars who have been awarded their PhD within the last five years to support the furthering of the work initiated in their dissertations or the launching of their first post-dissertation project. The Program anticipates awarding 2-3 of these awards (of up to $33,000 each over 24 months), which will provide unique and valuable resources for recent PhDs making the transition into professional research careers. Applicants will be expected to secure overhead agreements from their institution of employment (for no more than 10% of the total award amount). Research funds may be used for travel, data collection, software, research assistance, salary, or other forms of scholarly development. Applicants must present a clear research and writing plan, highlighting their publication strategy and discussing the policy relevance of the proposed work.
The funding for these fellowships is provided by the Department of State, Bureau of Intelligence and Research, Office of Outreach Title VIII Program for Research and Training on Eastern Europe and Eurasia(Independent States of the Former Soviet Union). Awards are limited to US Citizens and permanent residents.

Brunel University, PhD studentships in social sciences
Brunel University has nine fully-funded PhD studentships in social sciences for UK, EU and international students for a January 2012 start, (or as soon as possible thereafter).
The Department of Politics and History at Brunel is a thriving, interdisciplinary Department in the School of Social Sciences, with 20 full-time academic staff. Successful applicants will be awarded £12,372 per annum over three years, which includes a fee-waiver of £3,732 and a stipend of £9,000. In exceptional cases an additional fee contribution for international students may be available.

Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), School of Historical Studies announce Opportunities for Scholars 2012-2013 Program.
Some short-term visitorships (for less than a full term, and without stipend) are also available on an ad-hoc basis. Open to all fields of historical research, the School of Historical Studies' principal interests are the history of western, near eastern and Asian civilizations, with particular emphasis upon Greek and Roman civilization, the history of Europe (medieval, early modern, and modern), the Islamic world, East Asian studies, the history of art, the history of science, philosophy, modern international relations, and music studies. Residence in Princeton during term time is required. The only other obligation of Members is to pursue their own research.
The Ph.D. (or equivalent) and substantial publications are required.

Graduate Research Fellowship at the Center for Jewish History
The Center for Jewish History in New York will award both short- and long-term fellowships to aid Ph.D. candidates with their dissertation research in the Center for Jewish History’s archival collections. Fellows appointed for the 2012-2013 academic year must have successfully completed all requirements for the Ph.D. except for the dissertation by May, 2012. The short-term fellowship stipend is up to $1,800 per month, and the long-term fellowship stipend is up to $15,000 for ten months. Medical benefits and housing are not provided.
The program is designed to support academic research for the dissertation, and to foster a community of scholars interested in Jewish history. The Center holds mandatory monthly brown bag lunches and graduate seminars and provides fellows with access to all Center programs. Fellows will present their research in a graduate seminar that is open to the academic community.
These short- and long-term fellowships are not renewable or deferrable. Short-term fellowships are available for lengths of two to four months, and long-term fellowships are for a ten-month period, beginning September 1, 2012.

The Davis Center is pleased to announce the theme for its 2012-2013 Fellows Program. The Fellows Program brings together scholars at early and later stages in their careers to consider a common theme spanning the social sciences and humanities. The program is coordinated by faculty from across Harvard University whose research interests include aspects of the selected theme. In 2012-2013, the Fellows Program will be coordinated by Professors Tim Colton (Government) and Serhii Plokhii (History).
The theme for 2012-2013 is "Imperial Legacies and International Politics in the Post-Soviet Space." Areas to be explored under this theme include history, identity issues, security, political economy, and regime building in Russia, Ukraine, and other countries of the region. Other topics of interest include social and cultural factors such as migration, public health, religion, organized crime, environmental degradation, popular culture, and the mass media.
In addition to pursuing their own research, Fellows will participate in a bi-weekly interdisciplinary seminar series that will explore the theme. Papers will be presented by the visiting Fellows, Harvard faculty, and invited outside speakers.
